Best actor nominee Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock in the face with an open hand and shouted a vulgarity at the comedian for making a joke about his wife's appearance at the Oscars ceremony.

But is this really why he slapped him or is there more to this story...

Chris Rock made a joke about the hairstyle of Will Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith that referenced the movie GI Jane in which actress Demi Moore shaved her head. Jada Pinkett Smith suffers from the hair loss condition, alopecia. Smith walked on stage and hit Chris Rock in what at first appeared to be a scripted joke. But the mood turned sombre moments later when Smith, back in his seat, shouted back, 'Keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth'!

Despite this assault on Live Television Will Smith won Best Actor and broke down during his acceptance speech, leading me to believe that there was more to his behaviour than a mild GI Jane joke.

It might have something to do with the star couples open marriage which Will Smith can't come to terms with. All the years of betrayal and sadness locked within his soul which he has been masking all these years came to the surface and this was the result of that. IMO
