When Your Greatest Enemy is You

I used to love to debate and argue with Mormons and JW's.

I couldn't understand how they could look at a black and white scripture and still not get it?

Same thing with conversations with fellow Christians talking about differing doctrines, which led to heated discussions, which eventually separated friends?

We all have two enemies that are against us at every turn, Satan and ourselves?

When we talk to anyone about God, Creation and The Bible we need to remember who we are fighting, who the real enemy is.

2Ti 2:24  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
2Ti 2:25  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Verse 24; We are not to argue, we are not to tell anyone “You are wrong” as that immediately puts them on the defensive?

We simply tell them what we believe and why we believe it?

Only God can reveal the truth to them. Remember Peters confession, “Who do men say that I AM”

Verse 26; They oppose themselves, we gently remind them of judgment because we expose their darkness to the light, they get very uneasy?

Verse 27; Witnessing is fishing, you use the correct bait, let them nibble on it, and them let them bite and swallow the hook.

The key, gentleness, never argue simply tell them what you believe and why you believe it and then let the Holy Spirit take it from there.
