A collapsed wall and the pieces of blocks on a bed. It is the scene that the Esmeraldas firefighters found during the first inspections carried out in a neighborhood of the city, affected by a series of earthquakes reported since Saturday night.

Over the hours, firefighters have been able to see the extent of the damage. There are houses that lost part of their facades, walls and others that had partial collapses of their structure.

The strong magnitude 6 earthquake was recorded at 11:28 p.m. this Saturday and was felt in 63 cantons in 11 provinces of the country. After that tremor there were others of 3.9, 5.1 and 3.5 at dawn.

The chain of earthquakes reported in that area of ​​the country has generated uneasiness. Families have spent the night in the streets or have not been able to sleep well due to the movements recorded at dawn. Some took belongings from their house. The Boca del Lobo and La Ceiba sectors are part of the neighborhoods where damage to homes has been reported.
