Falun Dafa Spreads in Batam, Indonesia, practiced by Thousands of Students.

The magnificent sight of hundreds of students practicing these gentle movement exercises has long existed in Batam City, Indonesia. Is this some kind of mass extracurricular activity? Or is it a physical exercise program sponsored by the school?

Since 2011, this practice has been carried out in various schools in Batam, including Vocational School of Kartini Batam. This practice also received full support from the school principal, Mr. Mujiono.

“After we implemented it, it turned out that there were many benefits, and our children also felt it. By doing these activities, it has proven that they feel more comfortable, they can control their life condition and situation better, and they are also calmer, especially when dealing with learning at school.”

The practice of Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, which is taught en masse in Batam, starkly contrasts the situation of the practice’s founding country, Mainland China. Although Falun Dafa was promoted by the government when it was first introduced in 1992, the situation changed completely as the Communist government grew more and more afraid of the increasing number of Falun Dafa practitioners. Since 1999, the Chinese Communist government has banned Falun Dafa and has started propaganda to demonize the practice, both at home and abroad.

Mr. Mujiono also heard negative propaganda about Falun Dafa, before he was finally willing to accept the truth from Falun Dafa practitioners.

“In the beginning, particularly for me and others at the school, we did not understand what Falun Dafa was. Indeed, after seeing it in the media, then also after hearing the truth about it, we gave it a try, we were willing to try doing the exercises of Falun Dafa.”

One practitioner who is involved in introducing Falun Dafa to schools hopes that, apart from improving their health, the students will improve their morale which will be invaluable to their future lives.

“So that students and teachers can feel the benefits, not only of a healthy body but also spiritually in the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. We hope that it will stay with them as they enter the world of work, get married, and live in society.”

So far, a large number of schools in Batam have invited Falun Dafa to be practiced in their schools. 19 educational institutions with approximately 8,000 participants have benefited significantly from these exercises.

These exercises are practiced in a quiet state; the movements are relaxed, slow, and gentle. Falun Dafa has no membership system and no fees; anyone can practice it. The benefits of practicing Falun Dafa are that it can improve one's moral character and also correct improper body conditions so that the body becomes healthier.”
