Are prophecy and baptism with the Holy Spirit important for the church to move forward? Many denominations reject the idea that baptism with the Holy Spirit is a separate event from salvation. Along with this, prophecy is renamed "preaching" to further nullify its impact. Why? As we examine the New Testament, we find that prophecy played a vital role in New Testament church life. Today, we ignore it or warn against it altogether. Many well-known preachers point to the excesses of a few to thoroughly undermine its significance. Is this fair? Today, we look at what baptism with the Holy Spirit is and why Jesus created this experience for all believers.
