Surviving The Blizzard at Pictured Rocks in a Hot Tent

On this February trip, we head to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore during a winter storm and Blizzard warning for 3 days and 2 nights of backcountry camping. The blizzard warning called for heavy snow and 50+ MPH winds along the shore of Lake Superior.

We brought our hot tent set up and we were ready to hunker down and survive the blizzard conditions in style. All of our gear was packed in our pulk sleds and we had our snowshoes and microspikes ready for all of the different winter trail conditions that we may encounter.
We departed Munising, Michigan on the morning of February 18th, hoping to make it to camp before the impending snowstorm hit. Once the storm cleared, we enjoyed some winter fun along the Pictured Rocks coastline. We saw some frozen waterfalls, some local ice climbers, we enjoyed some snowshoeing in the deep drifts left by the powerful winter storm...
