First Time Making Beeswax Candles

This is our first time making beeswax candles and of course we wanted to do them as Christmas presents!
No Pressure! LOL
We certainly learned a lot from doing this and the clean up is not terrible.
We did make the strainer a permenant wax making tool as cleaning it would involve boiling it in a large amount of water and letting it cool so that wax solidifies at the top of the water.
Wax is "hydrophobic" meaning that it doesn't mix with water so when you're cleaning the wax it's ok to add lots of water, it just takes longer to boil.
The more you clean the wax, the clearer it will turn out.
The little crock pot is only warm enough to melt the wax and not bring it to a boil which is exactly what we wanted. None of our candles have cracks in them.
The wicks that we used are only 1mm thick and I think it needs to be thicker.
Look for wax 2mm thick unless you want to make small tea lights which is what the 1mm is good for.
