Stephen Hawking says the universe created itself

Stephen Hawking was a theoretical physicist, cosmologist and author. He is perhaps regarded as the most brilliant physicist of our time. But it is possible for a person to be knowledgeable in one area and be completely oblivious in another. This is what I believe to be the case in this video. As knowledgeable as Hawking was in theoretical physics, I don't think he was that knowledgeable in philosophy and logic.

In his book 'The Grand Design', Stephen makes the claim, "Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing." If any person begins to think critically about this statement, they will recognize a fundamental flaw. In order for the universe to create itself from nothing, it would have to exist prior to it existing which is just absurd. This is the absurdity I try to point out in this short video.
