Avian mycoplasma: Impact on the respiratory system of chickens and control measures

In this session, we centered around mycoplasma and its economic impact on production birds, focusing on maintaining performance, preventing infection, and mitigating the use of antibiotics.

Chris Morrow, Global Technical & Marketing Manager at Bioproperties, specifically focuses on the impact of mycoplasma on the respiratory system of chickens and possible measures to control avian mycoplasma.

About our guest: Chris Morrow BVC, PhD, has invented the live Mycoplasma synoviae vaccine MS-H from a field strain, as well as developed a duplex PCR test for MG and MS. He is a reviewer for over half a dozen international
veterinary journals, Honorary Associate Professor in the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Melbourne, and currently head of the Avian Team of the International Organization of Mycoplasmology. In 2017 he received the Australian Poultry Award from the Australian branch of the World Poultry Science Association. His current interest is intensive animal production with minimal use of antibiotics by total mycoplasma control.
