The first female US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, has died aged 84 from cancer.
She served in former President Bill Clinton's administration, first as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations before becoming the nation's top diplomat in 1997.
Ms Albright was born in Czechoslovakia and arrived in America as a refugee in 1948.
Her critics say Ms Albright was overly “hawkish” by pushing for the U.S. military to be used more frequently overseas.
Responding to a 1996 report which found 500,000 Iraqi children had died due to US sanctions, Albright infamously said "the price was worth it".
