SUV Slams Into Box Truck, SPRING CREEK, March 23, 2022 - At approximately 11:47 am on March 23, 2022, a large box truck, driven by Kalandus Phillips, 31, of Lufkin, was west-bound on US-190 West. Phillips slowed down to make a right turn and was slammed from behind by a silver 2019 Kia Sedona, driven by Larissa Taylor, 26, of Onalaska. Taylor was traveling behind Phillips and was apparently distracted when she failed to notice that Phillips had slowed down. Taylor noticed at the last second and cut left but still impacted Phillips. The impact caused Phillips' truck to turn over in the spot where he was turning. Taylor's vehicle spun around and came to rest facing north on the pavement. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Donny Akers, Nick Hatton, and Sergeant Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol. Amazingly, there were no injuries. Traffic on 190 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Taylor was cited for failure to control speed. Her vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston. A heavy duty wrecker was sent for to recover Phillips' vehicle.
