• Is 51:16 These words are spoken by God to His church and people. God's word is frequently said to be put into the mouths, not only of the prophets, but of the people also. God protects His people by his almighty power, that He may bring us to that perfect and blessed state called new heavens, and a new earth. May we remain faithful until the rapture in Jesus' name!

• Is 51:17-18 Jerusalem was God's holy city, the city with God's Temple. But the people of Judah experienced ruin instead of prosperity, destruction instead of liberty. Because of their sins, the people suffered. But God promised to restore Jerusalem as a holy city where sinners cannot enter. Put your entire faith and confidence in his ability to control the course of history—and your life. This scripture gives us an image of one who is under the influence of an intoxicating draught, and who needs some one to sustain and guide him. The idea is that among all the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the time of the calamity, there was none who could restore to order the agitated and distracted affairs of the nation. All its wisdom was destroyed; its counsels perplexed; its power overcome. This is what happens when someone misses God's guidance.

• Is. 51:19-23 The Lord reminds His people how they had been exercised, and had tasted of the gall and the wormwood; but now, in redemption by Christ, they shall drink of it no more. And as a poor fretful sinner, until relieved by the redemption of Jesus, is entangled and unable to get free, like a bull in a net; so when the Son hath made the sinner free, he then is free indeed! Oh! the misery of sin! Oh! the rich salvation of Jesus! God be praised for his unspeakable gift!

Because I dwell in the secret place of the most High, I shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver me from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover me with his feathers, and under his wings shall I trust: his truth shall be my shield and buckler. I shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shall I behold and see the wicked rewarded.

Because I have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, my habitation;
There shall no evil befall me neither shall any plague come nigh my dwelling.
For God shall give his angels charge over me, to keep me in all my ways.
They shall bear me up in their hands, lest I dash my foot against a stone.
I shall tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt I trample under feet.
Because I have set my love upon God, therefore will He deliver me: He will set me on high, because I have known His name.
I shall call upon Him, and He will answer me: He will be with me in trouble; He will deliver me, and honour me.

With long life will God satisfy me, and shew me His salvation.
So shall it be for me and my household today and forever, Amen and Amen!
