Beautiful Scenic Sonoran Desert View in Florence, Arizona | Dirt Road to 'Big Wash' 3/21/2022

We all know the typical idea of the desert:
it's dry, ugly, dull... but there's more to it than the view from the car to the airport.

Florence Arizona is a small, historical town in Pinal County between Tucson and Phoenix.

About a mile down (from location in video) is a river called 'Big Wash'- a staple recreational area for locals over generations- where you can always find people cruising in their ATV or truck (4x4 required.)

Most would call them rivers or streams but here the water isn't always running- when it does it washes through the dense dirt, carving out water pathways- creating what we call 'washes'.
(Although this is true, 'Big Wash' itself is a recreational spot off the Gila river, likely named by locals a couple generations ago.)

There are a few washes that run perpendicular to the trail that may fill during and after heavy rains as they lead to the adjacent Gila River. These washes lead us to the river.

When you get there, you may see cattle herds and sometimes horses 50 feet away having a drink. (See picture in video)

This place isn't on private land so anyone can come, but it is very difficult to find without the help of a local.

There aren't signs, no paved roads. You cannot get there using Google Maps or Apple.

I added some additional pictures from our adventures in the desert here in Florence. 😀

I feel blessed to be able to live here and enjoy the views we get. I feel I need to share it with the world, it somehow feels like a secret how beautiful the desert really can be.

If you want to see more, leave me a like and comment. I'll take some longer videos.
