2022 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo
The Skoda Fabia is one of the most popular superminis sold in Europe, mainly due to its ingenious practicality and intelligent features. It also shares the same fundamentals as its corporate cousin, the Volkswagen Polo. Unfortunately, what it doesn’t share is the Polo’s GTI performance trim. But, Skoda has decided to introduce a performance trim; well, sort of, with the introduction of the Monte Carlo variant. This is practically the closest anyone could get to a Fabia vRS.
Setting the 2022 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo from the standard variants are its black accents on the grille, mirrors, front apron, side skirts, and faux rear diffuser. The badges are also finished in black, most notable the "SKODA" script at the tailgate, plus this sporty variant also comes with a black contrasting roof.
Interestingly, the Fabia Monte Carlo will be offered with three wheel choices. The 16- and 17-inch wheels come with removable plastic covers that lower the vehicle’s drag coefficient to 0.28 Cd and this works in conjunction with the car’s active grille shutters. Larger 18-inch wheels are also available.
As for its interior, the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo comes with sports seats, faux carbon fiber trims, along with the obligatory red accents that are seen in basically every sport-oriented vehicle. LED ambient lighting and stainless steel pedals also come as standard on this special edition model.
Optional extras to make the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo even more special include a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, a larger 9.2-inch infotainment system, a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, just to name a few.
The last engine is the one to get if you want the absolute sportiest Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo you could buy, as this engine gives enables the Skoda Monte Carlo to have a top speed of 140 mph and a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of just eight seconds. This engine also exclusively comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the other engines come with a manual as standard.
Skoda has not yet announced pricing for the Fabia Monte Carlo Edition, nor the exact date that it will be available in Europe. All we know is that, if you want your small Skoda hatch to perform like a Hyundai i20 N or a Ford Fiesta ST, then the Fabia Monte Carlo with its most powerful engine option is the one to get.
