The Lost City is an action/adventure comedy that feels like it could have came out in the 90s. That's not a bad thing. The comedy genre has been sorely lacking for a good while now. Even though The Lost City isn't some masterpiece of cinema, it does provide enough laughs and likable leads to carry the picture. The script is pretty solid too with a simple premise and fun set pieces that keep the movie going at a good pace. A lake full of leeches, a volcano ready to erupt and a bumbling hero, make for an entertaining and fun blockbuster.

Reclusive author Loretta Sage writes about exotic places in her popular adventure novels that feature a handsome cover model named Alan. While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who hopes she can lead him to an ancient city's lost treasure from her latest story. Determined to prove he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her.
