This sermon was preached by Pastor Sam Adams on 11/3/13 at Independence Baptist Church in Belleview, FL. This is the third of four messages in the series titled "The Folly of Preterism". Bible text: Matthew
24:15
; Daniel
11:31
-12:4. This is Part 3 in a series of messages that refutes a false view of Bible prophecy referred to as Preterism, a system of biblical interpretation that uses an allegoric or spiritualized approach to the scriptures to hold that all Bible prophecy, including the book of Revelation, Christ’s prophecies in of His return in the Olivet Discourse, and all other NT and OT prophecies of Christ’s second advent, His kingdom, and His reign on this earth has already been fulfilled, and in fact was fulfilled in the 1st century AD with the destruction of Jerusalem and replacement of national Israel with the Church as the Bride of Christ. The system denies that Christ will ever reign bodily on this earth or that God has any plan or purpose for national Israel.

This message proves from Revelation 1, Zechariah 12 and Daniel 12 that the key verse to proper understanding of the Revelation and Christ's prophecy in the Olivet Discourse (Matt. 24, Mark 13, Luke 21) is NOT the "time text" of Mat.
24:34
that the preterists rely on, but is instead Christ's admonition in Matt.
24:15
to read and understand the prophecy of Daniel: "WHOSO READETH, LET HIM UNDERSTAND." When that is done, it becomes obvious that the "abomination of desolation" could not have been perpetrated in AD 70 and that the "great tribulation" of Matt.
24:21
is YET TO BE FULFILLED.

While preterists like to call premillennialists "newspaper exegetes" because we allegedly interpret the Bible by the newspaper, preterists do the same thing - except they use a much older newspaper - the writings of Josephus. We believe they need to update their newspaper.
