The first British deaths of Vladimir Putin’s murderous assault on Ukraine is another dangerous twist in this escalating war.

Families and friends will mourn the three ex-special forces troops feared killed in a missile bombardment near the Polish border.

They travelled to Ukraine to join what many consider a noble international cause – Putin the aggressor, and defiant Volodymyr Zelensky the inspirational leader of the free world.

Yet it needs to be restated that any Briton going to Ukraine is not only risking their lives but breaking the law.

It is illegal, however legitimate the cause may be considered.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, a former Army officer, urges Britons not to go and quashed Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who foolishly declared she would encourage them to go before humiliatingly backtracking.

The United Kingdom government will offer 350 pounds ($456) per month to people who provide spare rooms or properties to house Ukrainian refugees for at least six months, the BBC reported.

Both the hosts and the refugees will be vetted.

Housing Secretary Michael Gove told the BBC on Saturday that the U.K. could absorb tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees. Under the new "Homes for Ukraine" scheme, Ukrainian war refugees are allowed to enter Britain even if they do not have family there, Reuters reports.

Gove also told BBC that around 3,000 Ukrainian refugees have already been issued visas. They can remain in the country for up to three years and will be permitted to work and access public services.
