God: Unclassified (Raining Like the Devil a/k/a Surf in Heaven or Rain in Hell)

THE WAY YOU PERCEIVE SCIENCE IS PROBABLY NOT THE REALITY, AS VALIDATED BY A VIRUS THAT ISN'T STUPID

Before pandemic, if you attended a real grammar school, you could recite like a Bible verse: viruses are the most abundant biological particles in the world. If you knew that empirical reality, and you did not ask your teacher, or just demonstrate some initiative to determine how many of that number were harmful to mankind, you need not inquire why you did not get accepted to an Ivy League college. Okay. Maybe you got a sports scholarship. Yeah, Team!

When I saw Poltergeist, and saw the dead football players calling the old lady "coach", I wanted to believe it was just some joke about jocks, but, when former Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille showed up late to the Coach Boone Memorial Service, told the audience that he had made prior arrangements with the decedent to arrive late to his memorial service, and then took credit for going all the way to California to negotiate with the folks at Disney to ensure that the players portrayed in the movie, Remember the Titans, and that he had made a good deal, didn't know what the terms were, yet knew that they got something, and the old players replied in unison, "Thanks, Coach!" whose body was not even in the room, and who Euille definitely was not--need I say more.

Bottom line: if you blew off physics in high school, and blew off chemistry, even the references to Apollo 13, Fences, James Weldon Johnson's God's Trombones and even his "Negro National Anthem", will be lost on you.
