Tyreek Hill contract extension news could be coming soon as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Chiefs and Hill continue to make progress on a contract extension. It’s unclear how soon a new deal will come for Hill, but Chiefs’ GM Brett Veach has made it a priority during 2022 NFL Free Agency. Extending Hill should free up a lot of cap space for 2022. The latest addition to the Chiefs Free Agency Tracker is Chad Henne re-signing on a 1-year, $2 million contract. Henne remains in Kansas City to be the backup QB for Patrick Mahomes. What does this mean for 2nd year quarterback Shane Buechele? Buechele was the 3rd string QB as a UDFA last year and has some upside. Justin Reid contract details have emerged as his deal is worth 3 years and $31.5 million. Reid gets $20.485 million guaranteed and it’s a backloaded contract as his cap hit for 2022 is only $4.55 million according to Spotrac. Reid will carry cap hits of $12.7 million in 2023 and $14.2 million in 2024.
