Civilian death toll rises from Russia's intensifying attacks on Ukraine

The civilian death toll is climbing in Ukraine, as Russian forces keep hammering major cities with bombs. The Ukrainian capital of Kyiv is now under a 35-hour curfew after another day of Russian bombardments.

Its mayor says the city faces "a difficult and dangerous moment" with Russian troops edging closer. Meanwhile, in the south, the hard-hit port city of Mariupol is surrounded and though some more civilians managed to escape, those left behind face a worsening situation.

Redmond Shannon reports on the crisis also unfolding at a Mariupol hospital and the mounting anger among Ukrainians.
