At least 12 missiles were fired toward the US consulate in Iraq’s northern city of Erbil on March 13. US and Iraqi officials claim that the missiles were launched from the neighbouring country Iran. US State Department called the strikes an “outrageous attack” but said there were no casualties or damage to US facilities. However, Kurdistan counter-terrorism unit said that the missile strikes from Iran caused some material damage. Iranian state media reported that “secret Israeli bases” had been targeted in the attack.
