Feral Swine Bomb: How wild pigs are threatening Canada’s ecosystems and economy

There is an invasive species spreading across North America – feral swine. Millions of wild pigs are eating and destroying their way through Canada and the United States, causing about US$2.5 billion in property and crop damage every year.

In Canada, in addition to the ecological impact, wild pigs have the ability to spread diseases like African Swine Fever (ASF) and if there is one case of ASF in domestic pigs it could force the borders to be shut to industry exports.

For The New Reality, Candace Daniel reports on the frontline of research to try and stop or control what is being called the ‘feral swine bomb.’
