The Declaration of Independence of the United States of America was the first civil document in the history of the world to declare that there was such a thing as an unalienable right. A right which could not be taken away by men or governments. And an alienable right is a right which is given by God and cannot be taken away. When we declared that these rights existed we made the most profound statement in a civil document in the history of the world. And I quote from the Declaration of Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident self-evident that all men all men without exception or distinction are created equal that among that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights governments are instituted among men deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it and to institute new government laying its foundation on such principles. Liberty, one of the unalienable rights that God gives to us that man cannot take away is Liberty. Liberty is the power the unalienable God-given power to choose. We have freedom of choice in this country. When we declared that there was such a thing as Liberty, the power to choose, we had to fight a revolution to secure that Liberty in a constitution. The Revolution was fought over the power to choose. We did not have the power to choose in England. There was a religion of state; man was saying, government was saying, what the choice was that man had to make.
We declared that that was not so that there were unalienable rights, that among those rights are Liberty the power to choose. We fought over that principle. The greatest statement of the purpose of government in the history of the world is the preamble to the United States Constitution and I want to share that with you also: We the people of the United States we the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. The preamble is written in the present tense. We the people, not the framers of the Constitution; they did not elevate themselves above the people. We, you and I, the people ordain and establish this constitution, now every day the purpose is to secure the blessings of liberty the blessings of liberty are the unalienable God-given powers that we have to choose our choice to believe in God and to worship Him and to move his Word freely rightly divided is an inalienable right, it is an inalienable right. The purpose of government is to secure this power to choose. Every time a legislature acts it must secure the power to choose it must secure the blessings of liberty every time a legislature establishes policy it must secure the power to choose. Every time a court issues a judgment on the implementation of legislative policy it must do so in compliance with the Constitution.
This is the whole purpose of our government. We were so concerned with preserving and protecting the individuals power to choose that we set up a government which has a balance and separation of powers and the individuals in our government have equal rights with every other branch of government. Three branches of government are designed for a balance and separation of powers so that no group of individuals or no individual can ever take away the individuals power to choose. The legislature can't take it away the executive can take away and the court can't take it away because it's an inalienable right. The First Amendment to the Constitution, the First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. We do not agree with the religion of the Moonies it is not the rightly divided Word. But we support their power to choose. We support their right to believe what they want to believe.
