One of the greatest concerns we have not just in America but throughout the world is birth defects, and one of the greatest causes of birth defects – and the only one which is preventable, is Fetal Alcohol and Drug effects – or FADE.
If you are a parent or expecting a child, you would do anything to make sure your baby is born healthy, and not in the category of “special needs”, a category of physical and neurodevelopment that can last a lifetime, and cause a lifetime of problems and misery for those born with it.
This video presents new information on one drug that’s often overlooked, Marijuana, and the adverse neonatal effects upon the developing fetus and baby.
This video summarizes a Canadian study of over 106,000 births, that showed that adverse neonatal outcomes were associated with maternal marijuana use during pregnancy, and that infants who were born to women who reported marijuana use during pregnancy, were more likely to experience a wide spectrum of adverse neonatal outcomes than infants who were born to women who did not report marijuana use during pregnancy (non-users). The study also cautioned women who breastfeed to avoid cannabis use, as the THC readily passes through the milk to the infant.
The video summarizes by cautioning mothers not to use marijuana either before or during pregnancy, or if breastfeeding after delivery.
