Here I go over disassembly, diagnosis, repair, and re-assembly of an Original MessagePad (OMP) 100 / H1000 - This also applies to the Siemens NotePhone which is an OMP in a sightly modified case. The instructions are identical, however the NotePhone may need a little more prying on the corner near the speaker.

You'll need a PH0 screwdriver, a sharp hobby knife or needle, and a spudger or very thin flat screwdriver for (dis)assembly.
A soldering iron and solder for the repair.
One each of these thru-hole capacitors:
100µF 4V
3.3µF 35V
optionally 470µF 10V
The capacitors must be 5mm in diameter or less, and the capacitance should be kept the same, but the voltage you can go higher as I did for convenience. When looking for replacement parts at your favourite component reseller I search for in-stock capacitance value, voltage matching or exceeding, sort by price and select the cheapest thru-hole within the diameter constraint
