One of the team projects we did in my Projects in Computer Technology class back in 1999 (I believe) was to use Rhino 3D and Bryce 3D to create a 3D model of UHS accurate to within a few inches. Students went out and measured buildings, borrowed plans from the maintenance department, and even photographed textures of walls, lockers, etc. Unfortunately computers at the time couldn't handle the textures and also animate, but it was a beautiful project FAR ahead of what other high school students were doing at the time. I am proud to have taught these amazing young men and women. I was given so much credit for what I was teaching them, when in reality I was just the "guide on the side", not the "sage on the stage." Students can learn a LOT if the teachers can learn to keep out of the way. :) I think it was Mark Twain who talked about having to disrupt his education occasionally by going to school.
