Ukrainian refugees near 1.5 million as Russian assault enters 11th day

KYIV – The number of Ukrainian refugees is projected to reach 1.5 million on Sunday (March 6), 11 days after Russia invaded Ukraine, as Kyiv urged for greater Western action, including more sanctions and armaments.
On Saturday, a failed ceasefire that would have allowed residents to evacuate Mariupol and Volnovakha, two southern cities besieged by Russian forces, was blamed by both Moscow and Kyiv. Ukrainians who were able to flee fled to Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and other countries
