The 2015 loan from Ukrainian John Hynansky came as Biden’s brother faced financial difficulties related to his acquisition of a multimillion-dollar vacation home, nicknamed “the Biden Bungalow,” in South Florida.

The mortgage came as the vice president was leading the response to Russia’s takeover of Crimea.
