Covid is out and the Russia-Ukraine War is in as the new Global Crisis with the threat of a nuclear holocaust now super speeding a novel respiratory virus. I break down what’s real and what’s not on this week’s Tim’s News Explosion.

After repressing human rights and freedoms for the past two years the West has lost its moral high ground to lecture Russia over its military intervention in Ukraine. Dan Andrews gave one of his lecturing and hectoring speeches to the Russian leadership in the Victorian Parliament. Ex Australian Basketballer Andrew Bogut tweeted that Australian Politicians who turned a blind eye to Covid tyranny should STFU about Ukraine.

The mainstream media is hoping for a rating bounce with war coverage after people began to switch off after their covid fear narrative unraveled. CNN host Brian Stelter believes the network’s war coverage could turn around the record low ratings.

In the western media, there has been plenty of lionizing of the Ukrainian people’s guerilla fightback and its President Volodymyr Zelensky who was a comedian before being elected President in 2019. This war is more nuanced than is being sold to the western population. The Donbas regions of Eastern Ukraine have been at war with the Government in Kyiv since the western-backed 2014 Euromadien revolution which overthrew the elected pro-Russian President which resulted in Russia annexing Crimea.

NATO and Australia will be sending weapons to Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced Germany would rearm itself and rebuild its fossil fuel reserves. In response, Vladimir Putin has put Russia on its highest alert for nuclear deterrence. Nuclear radiation is a lot more deadly than a respiratory virus most of the western world is vaccinated against. Masks won’t protect people from nuclear fallout.

Financial sanctions including kicking Russia out of the international SWIFT banking payment system have triggered a run on local banks, the value of the ruble has collapsed leading the Russian Central Bank to double interest rates. Russia has been kicked out of FIFA and was stripped of the UFEA Champions League Final and the F1. Western cable companies have removed Russia Today from their platforms for putting forward Russia’s view of the war.

In local media news Nick McKenzie and his Producer Joel Tozer won a Walkley Award for their 60 Minutes story doxxing members of the National Socialist Network by using an infiltrator who went by the name of Dave Ryan.
