Although described as computer speakers in fact they work perfectly well as general purpose speakers, having an attractive design, compact size and, most importantly, good sound quality.
In the well designed and attractive branded product box are the speakers themselves with a hardwired USB power cable, a nicely made braided audio cable with angled plug, and a well written and easy to read user guide. Build quality all seems first-rate with nothing looking likely to fail, pack in or drop off anytime soon.
The speakers look good and break from convention by having the speaker grills angled at 30° upwards, which gives a better sound when they are on the desktop facing the listener. The USB cables, like the aux-in cable, is braided and matt black with a rather stylish look to them although it is a pity they are non-detachable and hard-wired in place. The USB connection is designed to power the Bluetooth and LED displays and does not support data or audio.
The controls are simple enough. On the front of the right speaker is a large volume knob and on the side is a rather hard to see control panel holding the Power, Bluetooth/Aux-In Mode Selector, EQ Mode buttons and the 3.5mm auxiliary in port. On top of the right speaker is a soft touch button to control the LED display and scroll through the Flow, Rhythm, Breathing and Off lighting modes. There are two audio modes available, Balanced and Bass with the side panel button switching between them.
The speakers use an up to date Bluetooth 5.0 connection and the device defaults to this when switched on and if not already connected switches to Pairing mode, which can also be found by long-pressing the Mode button. When in pairing mode just look for 'SK600' on the remote device and the speakers will connect with an audio confirmation tone. Subsequent connections are transparent and instantaneous.
One interesting feature of these speakers is the unusual speaker design which features dual magnets on the four internal speakers and an extra bass enhancing diaphragm on the rear of each speaker box. How much difference all this makes I cannot say but the speakers do have a sound superior to the rivals I have tried of this size and price point.
These are attractive and well made speakers, fine for compter or general use with a sound that belies their compact size. With an introductory price of $59.99 before discounts, they are not the cheapest out there, but good sound is always worth paying for.
