CBM Diagnostics by Carl Byington

Carl Stewart Byington is a unique individual who has accomplished something that less than 500 people in the world have done. He has run marathons on all seven continents and is a member of the ‘7 Continents Marathon Club’. Carl is also a successful entrepreneur, engineer, writer, and speaker who is well known in the predictive analytics and condition-based maintenance (CBM) sphere. He was part of world-class teams at Penn State Applied Research Laboratory, Impact Technologies LLC, and Sikorsky Aircraft. He is presently engaged in consulting with his company, PHM Design, LLC.
Carl excelled in most academics and wrestling in school. It was natural for him to evolve into both engineering and more solo sports activities such as weight lifting, rock climbing, and running. A series of circumstances led him to fall about 70 feet onto a rock shelf shattering the bones in my right leg with compound fractures while he was lead climbing at Seneca Rocks, West Virginia, on Sept. 9, 2003. That ultimately led him to his Seven Continent Marathon Quest.
Carl Byington successfully returned to mountain climbing, became a SCUBA Divemaster with his son, Connor, and pursued other backpacking and trekking accomplishments.
