VP of Word Salad, Kamala Harris on Russian oil.
When asked on TODAY if the president intends to heed the call of Ukraine's ambassador and hit Russian President Vladimir Putin's oil and gas sectors, Harris's response failed to answer the question at hand.
"We have, as the president said, reevaluated what we're doing in terms of the strategic oil reserve in the United States to make sure it will not have an impact or we can mitigate the impact on the American consumer," the vice president said.
"But, let's take this one step at a time, understanding that right now, on the issue of energy, our allies have stood firm and unified in a way that many of the pundits didn't predict would happen to ensure that we are unified in our approach to this issue."
On CBS Mornings, Gayle King informed Harris that 70% of the nation disapproves of the current administration's handling of the record-setting inflation.
Americans are tired of paying too much for oil and not being able to buy peanut butter, King said.
"Listen, people are struggling, especially working people. In terms of the price of gas and food and, uh, the reasons include what we need to do to address what happened through the pandemic in terms of supply chain issues, which was a reduction of the availability of goods, so the prices went up," Harris said.
"We also need to deal with one of the biggest issues, which is the cost of living. It's too expensive for working families."
Inflation and the war in Ukraine have contributed to dwindling hopes that Democrats will maintain control of Congress in November, but Harris said her party is working for all by paying attention to the "needs of American families.”
"These are the things we are attempting to do," she said to George Stephanopoulos on This Week.
"The president also, I thought, did a spectacular job of trying to appeal to American leaders, regardless of party affiliation, to come together in a unified way around these issues that impact people regardless of who they voted for in the last election. That's how we continue to make our country strong."
