"Sunshine Superman" was Donovan Leitch's first of four top 10 hits and his only #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart hitting the top position in 1966 (Whitburn, 2013). "Sunshine Superman" is considered the first psychedelic song to top the Billboard Hot 100 and was written for Donovan's love interest Linda Lawrence (M. Myers, wsj.com, Apr. 9, 2017).
