No man is an island

Our true identity is found in the midst of the people of God.

Now, this is especially true of those who desire to follow the Torah. The Torah was given to the entire Congregation of Israel. Its laws are designed to be kept by a community, a sort of holy partnership in which everyone works together to live out God's instructions. Therefore, no matter how scrupulously observant of God's laws a person might be, he cannot really call himself “Torah observant” unless he is observing the commandments in the context of a community of faith.

The building of the Tabernacle illustrates the type of cooperation God desired for his people as they labored together to fulfill his instructions. It required the contributions and resources of the community as a whole. Its construction required the hard work and craftsmanship of many people. The work of the Kingdom is a group effort.
