Building an Off-Grid Mountain Ranch by Hand: It's Getting Warmer, Need to Pick Up The Pace

Hey Everyone! Hope you all are having a great start to the week. Things are good here at Recycle Ranch, I've been using all the natural materials around the property to help level the driveway. It's LOTS of work but I like the look of doing it by hand vs heavy machinery. In my opinion, this makes it look more like a OHV trail instead of a road. Things are coming along at a good pace but I need to get quite a bit more done before I leave to Colorado for summer fly fishing. Thanks for tuning in, enjoy your evening!

I'm calling this place Recycle Ranch because I want to build all structures and outbuildings out of second hand materials. Should be a fun experience, really look forward to getting started! ~ Brian & Sierra

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OFF-GRID AND SELF SUFFICIENT HOMESTEADING

Definition of "Off-Grid": Off-the-grid or off-grid is a characteristic of buildings and a lifestyle designed in an independent manner without reliance on one or more public utilities. The term "off-the-grid" traditionally refers to not being connected to the electrical grid, but can also include other utilities like water, gas, and sewer systems, and can scale from residential homes to small communities.

Self-sufficient homesteading means needing no outside help in satisfying one's basic needs, especially about the production of food, and homesteading means living a lifestyle of self-sufficiency. So by those definitions, the key to homesteading is learning to be self-sufficient.
