A Guide To 2D Platformers - Part 1: Types & Sub-Genres

This is the first video in a new series I'm doing called, "A Guide To 2D Platformers". As a break from my booktube videos, I'd like to promote one of my most passionate hobbies, that being platformers. Here I discuss all kinds of platformers from the traditional Mario and Sonic, to the rise of the metroidvania sub-genre; and give a basic overview of what to expect.

It's my hope that I can go into more depth in this series, with future planned videos being; "Platformers For Beginners", "Underrated/Overlooked Platformers", and best lists for various systems going back as far as the NES and Master System. I'd also like to do series deep dives into some of my favourite franchises such as Sonic The Hedgehog, Donkey Kong Country, and Castlevania.
