Vond der Leyen: Ukraine may join EU

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is speaking out in favor of Ukraine joining the European Union. Speaking to Euronews, she said that Ukraine "has become one of us" and that the country is welcome to join the EU.

President Zelensky also reported on Twitter that he had spoken with Von der Leyen by phone about EU membership. Ukraine has included in its constitution that it aims to join the EU.

Vond der Leyen: Oekraine mag bij EU

Voorzitter Ursula von der Leyen van de Europese Commissie spreekt zich uit voor de toetreding van Oekraine tot de Europese Unie. Tegen Euronews zei ze dat Oekraine “een van ons is” geworden en dat het land welkom is in de EU.

Ook president Zelensky meldt op Twitter dat hij telefonisch met Von der Leyen heeft gepraat over een EU lidmaatschap. Oekraine heeft in de grondwet opgenomen dat het streeft naar toetreding tot de EU.
