THE FROZEN EARTH

Under unbound Northern skies
Reigning over the barren earth
A chilling wind roams the plains
Subdues all life in gantlet fist

The daylight is weak the darkness is deep
Our reprieve is brief and our nightmare so long
Fell beasts roam the land now awakened to kill
Their slumber is over and we are their prey

Behold the dancing Northern lights
Reigning over the blue moonlit night

The moon is our witness it hangs silently
It observes the nature of their cruelty

Crimson scattered
Blood on the snow
Dreadful in meaning
Terrible in beauty

The frozen earth laps not our blood
It rests in sombre repose
As the stars are veiled and weak
So becomes our resolve

When arises the cold moon
To cast its light upon the earth
Its ghostly beams entwine branch and limb
Luminous shapes emerge
When snows fall gently through the stilled air
Alighting upon the forest trees
All life stammers with bated breath
For our enemies awake
Then our stalkers hunt again
Enveloped in the gloom
Then our dead arise to kill
Once companions now foe
