Ukraine's nuclear agency said Friday that radiation levels around the site of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster were on rise following Russia's invasion.

Russian troops seized the remnants of the Chernobyl nuclear plant on Thursday, Ukrainian officials said.

In the aftermath, monitoring systems showed radiation levels rising at several points on and near the site.
