Hi DIYers. This is Sterling with Alarm Grid. Today we're going to be answering a question from Gary in North Carolina.

Gary wants to know how to change his installer code with his L5100 Lynx Touch Wireless Alarm Control Panel. Gary your panel came with a default installer code 4112. That's the typical Honeywell Residential installer code.

I'm going to show you how to change that, so that someone can't just come in and use your panel using 4112. It is always recommended to change your code when you get it, for security reasons.

What we want to do from the home screen is click More, bottom right. You now have system tools and settings, you want to click Tools. What we're going to do is enter our installer code.

Gary if you still have yours with 4112, which I imagine you must, if you're asking the question. Going to want to press that, it takes you to the installer menu screen. We're going to click program and the very first option is installer code. So they want you to enter a new one, since we used the one that's already in here it's going to allow us to change it. Let's just set it to 7777, probably not the most secure code, but for demo purposes it will work. Go ahead and click done. When you abck out you want to allow installer to re-enter programming. Back out, you're on the home screen. Click on more, tools, and then put in 7777, you're now back to the installer screen. If we backed out and we hit tools and we hit 4112, it takes us back to the homescreen because that's no longer a valid code since we changed it.

For any other quesitons you have, send them to faq@alarmgrid.com. We may post them on the website, or we may make one of these nice videos for ya'll.
