What is Acrylamide?
Where does it come from?
How do I avoid it?
How does it affect us?

Acrylamide is a neuro-toxic chemical found used in many industries worldwide but is also found in foods. It’s found in paper and pulp, construction, foundry, oil drilling, textiles, cosmetics, food processing, plastics, mining, and agricultural industries.

It comes from cooking starch based foods over 120 degree celsius or 250 degrees freheit. This means fried food and broiled foods are the biggest offenders of acrylamide. Boiled and baked foods do create a tiny amount as well but the higher the temperature the more acrylamide is created.

The effects of acrylamide on human health are not good. Acrylamide is a carcinogen something that is cancer promoting. Bowel, bladder and kidney cancer as all been linked to acrylamide.
