-The “saddest zoo on earth” as it has been dubbed is actually an aquarium in the Grandview shopping mall in Guangzhou, China
-2 Polar bears, 6 arctic foxes, 6 young beluga whales, 2 arctic wolves and 5 walrus calves
-Animals are in poor condition
-they look malnourished, skinny, frail and weak
-they are living in a prison for selfies
-belugas just swim back and forth endlessly
-wolves hardly move and lay lifeless and bored
-the Polar Bears are noticeably depressed, they claw at any crevice they can find trying to find a way out and have been seen to lay on their side with chattering teeth almost just mumbling or crying to themselves
-A petition by Animals Asia has been started to close the Grandview Aquarium and already has 330,000 signatures
-The Guangzhou Ocean and Fishery Bureau has found, from a recent investigation, animals have been dying when the Grandview mall was trying to move animals into the aquarium.
-A recent quote from Animals Asia’s Animal Welfare Director Dave Neale, sums up this situation quite well - “The list of what a polar bear needs is very long - to a point whereby you can only really answer that what a polar bear really needs is to be free to live life in the wild.”
