Snake Pole Build - How to (SNAKE footage)

Here is how I built a snake pole to deal with rattlesnakes that I encounter from time to time on my property. It’s made out of a $3 chunk of aluminum plate, 5’ of ½” electrical conduit, some scrap Ipe wood, a $1 spring and various nuts/bolts/screws/etc.

And if you’re wondering why I would build a pole like this instead of using a shovel to dispatch a rattlesnake, there are a couple reasons. First, it’s not always practical/necessary to dispatch or harm a snake as they do serve a vital role in rodent control. Additionally, sometimes rattlesnakes get into areas where removal is necessary before any other actions can be taken (i.e. garage, house, etc ).

Please note: None of these rattlesnakes were harmed during this video. They were snakes that had been removed from homes or yards in urban areas and were set for relocation to a desert habitat. I simply aided in their relocation and in return they got to star in the video;)

Here's where I got my snake guardz from:)
