Overlooking Budd Lake on 127 acres, CHI has seven guest rooms with private baths, six having whirlpool tubs, color TV/VCR/cable, wet bar, telephone, coffee maker, refrigerator, and air conditioning. Breakfast provided each morning featuring a variety of entrees. Gift shop.

In addition to the carriage house, the property, with a long, winding driveway surrounded by towering pine trees, there is a large house overlooking Budd Lake on Heritage Hill that was constructed in 1964, an “end” house built in sections that was completed in 1934, the carriage house and a manager’s house.

Since taking over care of the property, the Lanes have remodeled and landscaped, which Ernie described as looking “like a jungle” after the bed and breakfast closed in 2005.

Inherited by the current owner from his father, the property was too far for him to run himself because he owns a resort on the East Coast, Ernie said.

Having taken over care of the property about a year and a half ago, Ernie and Vivian saw it become a part-time bed and breakfast for a sort of trial run after it had been a B&B for almost 10 years starting in 1994.
