In this video, Dylan goes over various security systems that provide Z-Wave functionality. In order to support Z-Wave devices, a system must be equipped with a Z-Wave controller. A user can operate programmed Z-Wave devices through an interactive service platform, such as Total Connect or Alarm.com.

There are many Honeywell Systems that can be set up to control Z-Wave home automation devices. However, only the Lyric Controller can do this with no additional add-ons. The Lyric Controller comes included with an integrated Z-Wave controller for this purpose. Every other current Honeywell Panel will require that a Z-Wave controller be added separately.

For LYNX Touch Panels, such as the L5210 and the L7000 Systems, an L5100-ZWAVE module must be added. This add-on will allow the system to support and control Z-Wave devices. A Honeywell VISTA System, like a VISTA 15P or a VISTA 20P, will need either a Honeywell Tuxedo Touch Keypad or a Honeywell VAM. A Tuxedo Touch can be used to directly operate Z-Wave devices. But if a user has a VAM, they will need to control their Z-Wave devices from Total Connect 2.0.

The Lyric Controller, LYNX Touch Systems and the Tuxedo Touch all allow users to create and establish rules and scenes for their Z-Wave devices. Rules and scenes are used for having Z-Wave devices activate automatically with certain system events or on a predetermined schedule. This functionality is extremely useful for helping a user save money on their energy bills, and it can make a person's life more convenient. Rules and scenes can also be set up using the Total Connect 2.0 interactive platform.

Of course, there are alarm systems from other manufacturers that also support Z-Wave functionality. Some of these security panels include the 2GIG GC3. the 2GIG GC2 and the Qolsys IQ Panel 2.
