Firmware Upgrade Your Lyric Alarm System

In this video, Dylan shows users how to upgrade the firmware on a Honeywell Lyric. There are two main ways to upgrade the system's firmware. In any case, the system must be synced with AlarmNet360 and receive active alarm monitoring service. Updates can be done manually or pushed down automatically.

Before attempting to upgrade the firmware, a user might want to check the current version of their system's firmware first. The system's Master Code is needed to access this information. The current firmware of the Lyric is displayed from the System Information option within Advanced Tools menu. If the system is already running the latest firmware version, then it is not necessary to upgrade the firmware for the Lyric Controller System.

The easiest way to perform a firmware update for the Lyric Controller is generally to manually update the firmware from the panel. The system's Installed Code is required to do this. There should be an "Update Firmware" option from within the Installer Tools menu. After clicking this option, the update should go through automatically. Users can also contact their monitoring company to have them push down the firmware update, without them having to access the menu option. Once the update is pushed down by the monitoring company, the rebooting process will automatically begin.

On some occasions, a critical update for the system may be needed. If this happens, Honeywell will push down an automatic firmware update through their AlarmNet360 servers. When this occurs, the update process will begin automatically. The system will reboot upon completing the firmware update, and the update will automatically go into effect after the reboot. Updating the firmware manually usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes over WIFI and up to an hour using cellular only. After a firmware update, new features and compatibilities for the system should be made available.
