In this video, Joe talks about the voice annunciation feature for the Honeywell LKP500 Lyric Keypad. This is the only compatible external keypad for the Honeywell Lyric Controller. However, many users set up a tablet with the My Home Controller App to serve as a separate keypad for the alarm system.

But if a user wants a dedicated secondary keypad for their Lyric System, then the LKP500 is their best available option. In terms of voice annunciation, the LKP500 is extremely limited. The keypad will not perform any voice chime features, and it can only speak a limited selection of voice announcements.

One type of voice announcement that the LKP500 can speak is the current system status. This is basically whether the system is armed or disarmed, as well as if there are any current trouble conditions on the system. To have the LKP500 speak the status, simply press the status button on the upper-left corner of the device.

In order for the LKP500 to perform a voice command, the volume for the keypad will need to be set. There are various volume settings for the LKP500 Keypad. These include chime, entry/exit tones and voice volume. The volume for each can be individually set to off, low, medium or high.

However, the voice function for the Lyric System must also be turned on in order for the LKP500 to perform voice functions. This is the main voice setting for the system. This setting can be configured right from the main system menu. The user will not need to provide any system code to change this system.

Remember, the LKP500 will not speak out any individual zones. But the My Home Controller App can be used to speak out voice commands. This is one advantage that the My Home Controller App has over the LKP500. But the LKP500 is useful for speaking out arming and disarming notifications from the system.
