In this video, Joe talks about the voice command feature that can be used with the Honeywell Lyric Controller. This is a little-known feature that allows the user to provide voice commands to operate smart scenes that have been programmed. The alarm panel can be set up to recognize the user's voice.

The voice commands that can be used with the Lyric Controller are somewhat limited, but this is excellent feature for users who want to perform voice commands without using a smart assistant like Apple HomeKit. The main reason to use this feature is for controlling Z-Wave smart home devices through voice commands. Z-Wave devices can be integrated with various smart scenes, and these scenes can be activated using spoken voice commands.

The Lyric Controller has a Voice Commands Menu that is found within the Master Tools Menu. The user will need to know the Master Code for the system in order to access this menu. The Voice Commands Menu features a Voice Training feature that will allow the panel to better-recognize the user's voice. During the voice training process, the user will repeatedly speak-out common voice commands that are used with the system. Completing training will help ensure that the system is able to recognize the voice. There are also options to view a list of possible voice commands, adjust the panel's listening sensitivity for hearing voice commands, and for turning the feature on and off.

When providing a voice command, the user will need to speak a predetermined activation phrase the will let the system know that the user is about to provide a command. This activation phrase will be initially spoken by the user during the voice training process. By default, the activation phrase is "Hello Lyric." After speaking the activation phrase, the Lyric will know that the user is about to provide some type of command. The user can then speak a smart scene name to run the command. But please note that only one vocal command can be used with a smart scene, and each smart scene can only be associated with one command.
