Diane Lee

Diane Lee is a 6 p.m. co-anchor on 7News and a two-time Emmy Award winning reporter with more than a decade of on-air experience.

In June 2015, Diane won a Southeast Regional Emmy Award for a story she did on protecting yourself from identity theft. The year before she won an Emmy for her investigative story on a debt collection scam. Both years her entry was the only one in the final list of nominees that was not from the Atlanta market.

Diane’s anchoring has also won recognition. Her live solo coverage of a 20-minute high-speed car chase received an award in the “Spot News” category with the South Carolina Associated Press Broadcasters Association.

Diane began in the market as a morning anchor for 7News, and for the three years prior to joining WSPA-WYCW, Diane was a morning anchor for FOX23 News in Albany, NY.

From 2004 to 2006, Diane was an evening co-anchor and the 11 p.m. solo anchor at WYOU, the CBS affiliate in Scranton, PA. In addition to her duties on set, Diane produced, reported and frequently edited investigative stories on issues ranging from drug trafficking to political scandals. She received two Excellence in Broadcastingawards from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters, one for her series on prostitution and another on domestic violence.

In her first on-air job, Diane was a full-time video journalist from 2000 to 2002, responsible for shooting, writing and editing daily packages for WRNN, a cable news station covering the Hudson Valley counties north of New York City. While at WRNN, Diane received awards for excellence from the New York State Broadcasters Association for her investigative reports on homelessness and nuclear power safety. In 2002, she became the 6:30 p.m. anchor while continuing to report daily.

In addition to her work in TV news, Diane has actively supported charities that promote the well-being of children and victims of abuse. Diane, who also loves to sing, produced a Christmas CD for the Children’s Miracle Network. The project raised $20,000 for the non-profit in 6 weeks.

Diane graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She lives in Greenville, SC, with her husband, son (5) and daughter (2). She is an avid jogger and hiker. She continues to indulge her love of singing, and is often asked to perform the national anthem to open professional sporting events.
