In this video, Joe talks about the sensors that can be used with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. The standard IQ Panel 2 System includes a built-in wireless receiver for supporting 319.5 MHz wireless sensors. This includes sensors from Qolsys and Interlogix/GE. The system will support a maximum of 128 zones.

Setting up sensors is one of the most important parts of installing a security system. The sensors will report to the panel whenever there is any activity, such a motion or a door or window being opened. Without sensors, an alarm system will have no way of knowing that something is wrong. The Qolsys IQ Panel 2 is no exception, and sensors need to be programmed with the system in order to achieve basic functionality.

The most common sensors to use with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 are 319.5 MHz wireless sensors. These sensors can quickly and easily be learned-in with the system through programming. However, these aren't the only types of sensors that can be used with the IQ Panel 2. The panel also has two hardwired inputs for supporting normally closed hardwired sensors. Two wired sensors can connect with these inputs to be used with the system.

If a user wants to use more than two hardwired sensors, they can do so using a wired to wireless converter. The wired sensors will connect directly with the wired to wireless converter, and the converter will send a wireless signal to the panel on the behalf of the sensors. A great wired to wireless converter to do this with is the Qolsys IQ Hardwire 16-S. By using the "S-Line" version, all wireless communication will be protected using rolling code encryption.

However, the new Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus Systems can use other types of wireless sensors. Each IQ Panel 2 Plus contains a PowerG daughtercard for 915 MHz PowerG Sensors. Additionally, they each contain an a single "legacy" daughtercard for supporting a different set of wireless sensors. This legacy card can be one of three frequencies, these being 319.5 MHz (Qolsys & Interlogix/GE), 345 MHz (Honeywell 5800 Series and 2GIG), or 433 MHz (legacy DSC).
